REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JOMBANG— The Headmaster of Pondok Pesantren Tebuireng, Jombang Regency, who is also the Chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama in East Java Region Abdul Hakim Mahfudz insists that he does not want NU to be divided, especially during this 2024 general election.

“If it is for the benefit of NU, God willing it will unite. If anyone is divided it is because of their interests. I'm not much of an interest. Together we think about the interests of NU, this organization is doing well, giving benefits,” he said in Jombang, Friday (12/1/2024).

Gus Kikin, his relative, also confirmed that he has never given a statement of support for a presidential candidate who will fight in the 2024 election.

However, when there are guests from the team as well as presidential and vice presidential candidates present, He still receives them.

“I never gave any support to anyone. Everything comes here and I have to respect the guests,” he said.

He also hopes the entire ranks to keep NU. In addition, it is expected that the whole party is mainly at the grassroots to preserve the unity of the nation.

“If NU really thinks about its people. Our NU is a vessel for building togetherness, unity, and unity. That's what matters,” he said.

Gus Kikin also confirmed decided to accept the mandate from PBNU to become Pj Chairman of PWNU Jatim replacing KH Marzuki Mustamar.
