Demokrat Party will be an Important Part of the Government in The Next 5 Years

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Democratic Party General Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) often receives insinuations regarding the decision to join the government of President Joko Widodo Jokodo (Jokowi). He sees it as part of democracy.

Still, he said that from the beginning the Democratic Party wanted to play a role, whether inside or outside government. The spirit of the Democratic Party, he said, remains the same, which is to continue things that have been good.

“Where is our fault? From the beginning Democrats said they wanted to play a role, our role if it wasn't accepted our government had a role outside. We call for the good ones to continue, the ones that have not been good to improve and perfect,” AHY said in a speech at the DPP office of the Democratic Party, Jakarta, Friday (8/3/2024).

“It hasn't changed when it was on the outside and now on the inside, it's the same spirit,” he added.

He explained that the task was an important role in overseeing the transition of Jokowi's government into a later period. Thus, he ensured that the Democratic Party would be the party that would oversee Jokowi's last eight months.

“We are preparing, giving full support to the leader and the next administration five years from now, and God willing the Democrats will be an important part of the government of the next five years,” AHY said.

In addition, there are many sorrows and fall-outs that the Democratic Party has experienced during taking on the role of the position. He was eventually appointed by Jokowi as Minister of Agrarian and Space/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN).

He confirmed that now the Democratic Party has taken a role in Jokowi's government until October 20. The cause is also supported by the people who support the party emblazoned with the star of mercy.

“This is what we fought for from the beginning, right, Mr./Mom? We are fighting to be able to play a role in government. So de jure and de facto, today Democrats since February 21 are in the government of the Cabinet of Indonesia Maju,” AHY said.
