REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKASSAR -- Chairman General of Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) HM Jusuf Kalla reminds Muslims to introspect and welcome Ramadan 1445 Hijriah/2024 Ehi.
“Fasting has long been ordered. Ramadan is an ordeal, as well as training and worship that is important for all of us,” Jusuf Kalla said after confirming the director of the Al Markaz Al Islami Masjid Foundation Makassar, South Sulawesi, in Makassar, Sunday (10/3/2024).
The 10th and 12th Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia appealed to the Ummah by quoting the postulate on the commandment of fasting in Surat Al-Baqarah verse 183.
According to him, fasting is a worship that has long been commanded for believers, except those who are obstructed. “Fasting is an important charity of worship for Muslims,” the man who is familiar with JK told reporters.
Therefore, JK invites all Muslims in Indonesia to prepare time for introspection to welcome this year's holy month, as well as what will be done after Ramadan.
He pointed out that the issue of Islam faces different challenges and problems. Such is the problem facing Muslims in the Middle East as well as Muslims in other parts of the world. However, JK is grateful that Indonesia is relatively facing challenges that are not so difficult.
“We are grateful for the religious activities in Indonesia, the incredible number of mosques, so we need a concerted effort to improve the charity of worship, muamalah, tarbiyah and all prayers during Ramadan,” said the Chairman of PMI Center.
JK hopes the implementation of Ramadan this year goes well, is calm and gives grace to all in carrying out worship in the blessed month. “May we all be given an abundance of grace and guidance to enter until the end of Ramadan,” JK said.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al Markaz Al Islami Mosque appointed the new Chairman of Al Markaz Al Islami Foundation Prof. Hamid Awaluddin along with the board of directors for the period 2024-2029.
