REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI is optimistic that it can achieve its target for disbursing people's business credit (KUR) this year by implementing a sustainable business strategy.

BRI Micro Business Director Supari said that the company had distributed KUR worth IDR 27.2 trillion to 561 thousand debtors during January-February 2024. With the realization of KUR at the beginning of this year, BRI is optimistic that it can achieve this target.

"If calculated, this distribution is around 16.5 percent of the total KUR allocation distributed by BRI this year," said Supari in Jakarta, Tuesday (16/4/2024).

Supari noted that BRI received the largest KUR distribution quota in 2024, namely IDR 165 trillion. BRI's micro business strategy in 2024 will focus on empowerment before financing.

BRI also has an empowerment framework that starts from the basic phase, integration, to interconnection. In accordance with the government's mandate, Supari said that the KUR program aims to increase and expand access to financing for productive businesses.

Apart from that, the KUR program also aims to increase the competitive capacity of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and encourage economic growth and employment.

The benefits of the KUR program have been felt by MSME players, one of whom is Zakiron or familiarly known as Pak Pong. He is the owner of Sate Klathak Pak Pong in Yogyakarta. Through the use of KUR, his business has now grown rapidly.

In 2000, Pak Pong applied for a business capital loan through KUR BRI to develop his business. Sate Klathak Pak Pong itself was first started in 1997 by contracting a small roadside kiosk measuring 6x6 meters in the Jejeran area, Bantul, Yogyakarta.

Then in 2010, through the BRI KUR facility, Pak Pong borrowed business capital again to buy land. He built a permanent building on it for Sate Klathak Pak Pong which operates to this day.

As the business continues to grow, Sate Klathak Pak Pong can now slaughter 20-30 goats a day to make satay klathak. Even on weekends and long holidays, such as Eid, the culinary business can slaughter up to 40-50 goats a day.

"With this amount, we can achieve a turnover of around IDR 35 million-50 million per month," said Pak Pong on a separate occasion.

According to Mr. Pong, his restaurant is busy as a place to break the fast together during Ramadan. The number of visitors also increases ahead of Eid and during the Eid holidays. At that moment, business turnover can increase rapidly.

"Maybe because at the end of Ramadhan many people have started going home to Yogyakarta, so every H-5 of Eid, Sate Klathak Pak Pong is always busy until H+10 of Eid. "Not infrequently, the turnover can reach IDR 50 million per month," said Mr Pong.
