REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian national team departed for Jeddah to face the Fourth Round of the 2026 World Cup Asian Zone Qualifiers. Eleven players departed from Jakarta, including Ernando Ari, Ricky Kambuaya, Egy Maulana Vikri, and Jordi Amat.
Indonesian national team manager Sumardji explained to the media on Thursday afternoon (October 2, 2025) at Soekarno-Hatta Airport that several other players were arriving from abroad. "There are some from Bangkok, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and several European countries. Everyone will gather in Jeddah," he said.
Goalkeeper Nadeo Argawinata is also confirmed to join the team, although he will be on a later afternoon flight as he only just received confirmation of his departure. "Nadeo will fly out at 3 p.m. He can't be with us because we only announced his departure last night," Sumardji added.
The players who have arrived will undergo initial medical tests before starting official training according to the schedule prepared by the coaching team.
The condition of the Indonesian national team's goalkeepers has been in the spotlight ahead of the qualifying matches. Emil Audero is reportedly still recovering from a minor injury. "Emil is still in the recovery process, but communication with the club is ongoing," said Sumardji.
Meanwhile, Maarten Paes is confirmed to be fit and ready to join the Garuda squad. "Marteen is fully fit to participate in team training. They (Emil and Maarten) will both depart from their respective clubs on October 5, 2025," he explained.
With the addition of Nadeo, the national team now has three goalkeepers for the crucial matches against Saudi Arabia and Iraq on October 8-14, 2025.
