REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, AMARILLO - Cold-weather clues have helped police in the Texas Panhandle track a burglary suspect through footprints in the snow.

Amarillo police say Collin Thomas Ferguson was being held Monday on four burglary counts and a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Online Potter County jail records don't list an attorney for the Bloomfield, NM, man, whose bond was set at 6,000 USD.

Police on Sunday morning answered a call about a vehicle burglary. A man leaving for work saw someone in his parked car. Police say the suspect ran, returned after apparently leaving his cellphone in the car and then fled again.

Officers followed footprints in the snow and found Ferguson hiding in another parked vehicle. He faces burglary charges related to three vehicles and a building, plus police recovered marijuana.
