REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUALA LUMPUR -- The United Nations (UN) appreciated Indonesia's efforts in handling radicalism which was done not only through law enforcement but also religious approach.
"They appreciate because we used legal approach and also religious and cultural approach," said President Jokowi after held a meeting with UN Secretary General on the sidelines of ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia, Sunday (22/11).
President revealed, his meeting with UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, was to discuss several issues, such as forest fires and refugees. It was also discussed the issue of terrorism and sustainable development.
President stated that related to forest fires, Indonesian Government has made efforts, including the use of a number of planes for water bombing.
"It includes the deployment of 30 thousand personnel. It was actually not forest fires, but peat fires," he added.
