REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- RI President Prabowo Subianto announces the establishment of the National Labour Welfare Council. The move was as one instrument to support the elimination of outsourced systems or outsourced workers.
“As a gift to the workers today, I will soon form a National Labour Welfare Council,” Prabowo said in front of thousands of workers attending the May Day Fiesta commemoration in Monas Square, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (1/5/2025).
Prabowo explained that the National Labor Welfare Council is a body that will involve labor figures from all over Indonesia. He said that the council, when formed, would later be tasked with advising the President on improvements to laws and regulations that did not side with workers.
In addition, Prabowo also reiterated his support for the proposal to abolish the outsourcing or outsourcing system that has been the focus of the workers so far. He said that the Labour Welfare Board would contribute to an in-depth study of the transition mechanism to the abolition of the system, while taking into account the investment climate.
“We want to eliminate outsourcing. But brothers, we also have to be realistic, have to look after the interests of the investors as well. If they don't invest, there are no factories, you don't work,” Prabowo said.
