NU warns on 12 hardliner organizations

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA - Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), one of the largest Muslim organizations in Indonesia, warned of 12 hardlines organizations. Chairman of NU, Said Aqil Siraj said these groups could spark new hardliner movement in Indonesia.

Siraj said that those groups were not terrorist organizations but they embraced hardline approach. Those organizations are located in Makassar (South Sulawesi), Lampung, Mataram (West Nusa Tenggara), Jakarta, Sukabumi and Cirebon (West Java), Surabaya, Bondowoso and Jember (East Java).

"I'm afraid they have potential to seed terrorism," Siraj said recently. He added that NU was ready to help government to cut terror network in Indonesia..
