REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Chairman of the Advisory Board of Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) Din Syamsuddin said it was painful to hear the accusation against Muslim as intolerant and anti-diversity.
He said Muslims had significant roles in Indonesian struggle based on Pancasila and Unity in Diversity.
"Muslims had important role since the struggle against colonization up to the independence," said Din in a press release received by Republika.co.id on Friday (May 5).
Din argued that stability in Indonesia happened as Muslims are tolerant to live in harmony and peace with all the Indonesian people without regarding any ethnics, religions, races and groups. He could not imagine what would happen if Muslims were not tolerant.
According to Din, Muslims are backed with others elements of the society to protested the blasphemer as the case has disrupt national harmony and unity. "They critized injustice in law enforcement," he explained.
Din said the same reason triggered Muslims to protest economic injustice as it violates the fifth pillars, "Social justice to all the Indonesian people."

Therefore, Din wondered who is the real intolerant and anti-diversity. He asked whether it was the party who protest against blasphemy and economic injustice and injustice in law enforcement as it has disrupt the harmony.
"Or was it the party who support the disturber who is anti-diversity, the one who has entered other people's belief and who is backed or be supported by arogant capital owners whose wealth are being used to dictated national life over the suffering of the majority people?" he asked.
Din remarked now this is the moment for the people to establish true harmony, not a false harmony that support contempt against other parties. Moreover, the ambiguity of harmony by accusing the protesters against other parties as an intolerant and anti-diversity. "It's time for nation reasoning and conscience to be purified from the tendency of manipulation and distortion of facts," he reiterated.
