Minister: Cruises visiting Indonesia tends to increase

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR - More cruises visit Indonesia on the last five years. "The data of cruise visit to Indonesia show the number is increasing quite well," Director of Convention Promotion, Incentive, Event, and Special Interest of Directorate General of Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism and Economic Creative, Rizky Handayani stated in Kuta, Bali, on Saturday.

On 2008, the number of cruise coming to Indonesia was 36. Then on 2009, the record says 135 cruises. On 2010, there were 189 cruises, but it inclined on 2011 with 176 cruises coming to Indonesia. The number is increasing on 2012 with 214 cruises.

"There will be 300 units coming to Indonesia on 2013. They will visit several international standard ports," she said. 

Several ports such as Benoa, Belawan, Tanjung Perak, Semarang and Kumai are improved to facilitate the tourists. Government also builds several new ports in Probolinggo of East Java, and Komodo in Nusa Tenggara Timur.
