Rohingya immigrants stranded in Sukabumi

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SUKABUMI - Seven Rohingya immigrants from Myanmar and an Indonesian woman were stranded for five days at sea near Sukabumi, Indonesia. They were departing from Malaysia to Christmas Island in Australia. 

The Indonesian woman, Utami Listiana (37 years), is a wife of an immigrant named Muhammad Kafi (39). The other six immigrants are Soukaf Ali, Nur Alam, Rohmudin, Hobul Kamari, Said Husein, dan Samsul Alam. 

"I was stranded at sea for five days," said an immigrant, Soukaf Ali (34), on Friday in Sukabumi Immigration Office. He said that they were ran out of fuel. Before stranded, their traditional boat transit in Medan, North Sumatera, Jakarta, and then Sukabumi. Ali said, he sought better life in Australia during the conflict in his country. 

The Head of Sukabumi Immigration Office, Yayan Indriana, said the immigrants were temporarily stayed at Agusta Hotel in Sukabumi. They will be placed soon in immigrants detention house in Medan.
