REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Government of Ecuador asks Indonesia to operate oil field in the country, Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik stated on Friday.

"Ecuador has met Indonesian president back then to talk about it," Wacik said, adding that Ecuador's Oil Minister will visit Indonesia to further discuss the matter. He also said that Indonesia would be actively involved in the exploration. 

Talking about Pertamina acquisition in Iraq, Wacik said government had signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), saying that Indonesia could exploit, operate and take oil in Iraq. Government will send a team, consist of Minister of Economy, Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and Executive Director of Pertamina, to Iraq to ensure the investment.

The team will ensure that Pertamina will get crude oil from its partner in Iraq, Light Basra Oil. Pertamina expects to obtain 65,000 barrel oil per day (bpd).

Pertamina also cooperates with Iraqi oil company, particularly in Westuba oil field, which is also operated by Exxon. Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Susilo Siswoutomo is optimistic that Indonesia will get more supply of oil and gas from Iraq. "At least 180,000 bpd," he said.
