REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Minister of Transportation, Bambang Susanto said that inaportnet application system by PT Indonesia Port Corporation (IPC) would reduce logistic costs. Inaportnet is an electronic portal system to facilitate data and information exchange in port service that safe, neutral and easy.
"We hope Inaportnet will reduce logistic costs at least 10 percent," Susantono said on Sunday.
Inaportnet is integrated to related government agencies, enterprises ports and logistic industry to improve the competitiveness of Indonesia's logistic community. The users are government agencies and enterprises, as well as port logistics industry in Indonesia that utilizes port services.
Four main ports, namely Tanjung Priok, Belawan, Makassar and Tanjung Perak is targeted to use this system in 2014. Susantono said that government would form a supervisory committee to monitor and supervise Inaportnet implementation.
Indonesia National Shipowners Association (INSA) encourages the modernization of cargo considering most logistic distribution activities still rely on ship.
"Development of container and cargo in many ports in Indonesia must be balanced because not all goods can be transported by container," Chairman of INSA, Carmelita Hartoto said.
