REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded February inflation of 0.26 percent, lower than January 2014 of 1.07 percent. The figure is also lower than inflation rate of 0.75 percent in February 2013, but still higher than 0.05 percent and 0.13 percent in February 2012 and February 2013.
Deputy of Production Statistics in BPS, Adi Lumaksono explained that cumulative inflation in 2014 reached 1.33 percent or 7.75 percent year on year (yoy). He highlighted the core components in monthly inflation.
"Core inflation is usually smaller than total inflation. But now, it is bigger," Lumaksono said on Monday.
Inflation due to regulated price by government reached 0.01 percent, while inflation of volatile price stood at 0.32 percent. Inflation was recorded in 55 out of 88 cities in Indonesia.
The highest inflation occured in Pontianak (West Kalimantan) at 2.73 percent caused by transportation during Lunar Year celebration.
