REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR - Bali will host the World Pneumonia Day campaign on Friday, Nov. 7, at Niti Mandala Renon Field, Denpasar, to urge the people and government agencies to be heedful of the dangers of the disease.

"Let us save our children from the dangers of pneumonia and suppress the number of child death cases caused by the disease. As of now, pneumonia is still ranked fifth for the reason behind child deaths in the world," Dr Putu Siadi Purniti, the chairman of the World Pneumonia Day Committee, stated on Tuesday.

The campaign urges parents to immediately bring their children who are suffering pneumonia to medical centers for further treatment. The World Pneumonia Day campaign will be inaugurated by the Governor of Bali Province Made Mangku Pastika.

To commemorate the event, a run will be flagged off around the Niti Mandala Renon Field on Friday morning, at 6:30 am local time. The campaign event will also be attended by the representatives of the Central Board of the Indonesian Pediatric Association (PP IDAI) and Directorate General of Disease Control and Environmental Health.
