REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) names the Chairman of Democratic Party Anas Urbaningrum as a suspect of Hambalang graft case. He allegedly received a gift related to the process of the building of Hambalang sport center in Bogor, West Java.
"KPK has named AU (Urbaningrum -Ed) as a suspect," the Spokesman of KPK, Johan Budi, said on Friday during press conference. KPK has also imposed travel ban for Urbaningrum.
The warrant issued on February 22 mentions that Urbaningrum violates Article 12 a or b or Article 11 Laws No. 31/1999 which has changed into No. 20/2001 on the Eradication of Corruption.
Democratic Party Advisory Board Chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) took over the ruling party on Friday, February 8, then asked Urbaningrum, to focus more on his legal issue with KPK. SBY also asked all party cadres to focus more on internal issues including reorganizing process despite general elections is approaching in 2014.
