REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) considers Japan as the most important partner for Indonesia due to its large investment. However, Indonesia expectswider cooperation with Japan.
"Our relations with Japan is important in term of investment, but we hope Japan can help tranfer its high skills on development," the Head of BKPM, Muhammad Chatib Basri, said on Wednesday during panel discussion on investing in Indonesia, hosted by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI). He exampled that Japan could invest in Indonesian capacity building.
The panel discussion is aimed to facilitate investors from Ehime Prefecture in Japan to meet Indonesian entrepreneurs. The 14 Japanese entrepreneurs met with Indonesian counterparts to explore potenial id cooperations.
President Director of BNI, Gatot M. Suwondo, as cited from bnisecurities.co.id, said the move was aimed to contribute to the improvement of Japanese businessmen investing in Indonesia and the creation of new jobs in the country. The meeting between Indonesia and Japan is expected to bring real business cooperation between them.
