REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Presidential candidate of Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Joko Widodo signaled that his vice presidential candidate came from outside Java. He conveyed it when asked by reporters about the figure of vice presidential candidate.
"Where do I come from?" Jokowi questioned to media crew recently.
"From Solo, Central Java," replied by a reporter.
"Yes. It means that the VP will come from outside (Java)," Jokowi answered.
However, when he was asked if the figure was Jusuf Kalla who came from Makassar, South Sulawesi, the Jakarta governor just laughed. He said that an ethnic was actually not main factor to determine his running mate.
Jusuf Kalla is widely reported as one of strongest candidates for Jokowi's pair. However, former Solo mayor has not yet ready to announce the VP name. He will announce it officially May 9-14, 2014.
