REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Political analyst of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University, Pangi Syarwi Chaniago said that presidential candidate No. 2, Prabowo Subianto thought globally in presidential debate held by General Election Commission (KPU) on Tuesday night. In contrast to Prabowo, Jokowi stuck on local issues.
"Jokowi only explained his own success when serving as Solo mayor and Jakarta governor. Jakarta is only small area, which cannot be compared to overall Indonesia," Chaniago said on Tuesday as reported by Muhammad Hafil.
He considered that Prabowo's concept of nationalism was more prominent than Jokowi during the debate. Jokowi did not describe the Trisakti concept of Soekarno. Trisakti is Soekarno's ideological concept, consisted of political sovereignty, economic self-sufficiency and cultural independence.
"Prabowo explained clearly the importance of systematic and structured national independence by standing on its own feet. Many Indonesia's natural resources flew to foreign parties. Jokowi lost the momentum to explain the concept of Trisakti," Chaniago added.
