Dozens of artists submit their petition at KPU's headquarters.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Dozens of musicians, directors and young professionals who call themselves as 'Voice of the Voters for Honest' visited General Election Commission (KPU) headquarters on Tuesday. They demanded the Commission to carry out a fair and honest count process. They were Nia Dinata (a film director), Abdee (Slank's guitarist), Djajang C Noer, Olga Lydia, Oppie Andaresta, Joko Anwar, Ipank, J Flow and several other artists.

"We represent the people, hereby ask Mr. Husni Kamil Malik (KPU chief) to run a free and fair election process," Dinata said when reading their petition at KPU's office.

They also demanded the Commission and government to provide conducive condition during the election day on Wednewday, so that people could use their right to vote without intimidation. They asked President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to maintain the electoral process. They highlighted the case of thousands of Indonesian citizens in Hong Kong who had lost their voting rights. 

"We expect government to carry out a clean, fair, and independent election. We hope Mr President to monitor the vote counting," Dinata added.

KPU Commissioner, Ferry Kurnia Rizkiyansyah met the visitors. He said that the commission was committed to hold a free and fair election.
