REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BATAM -- Foreign investment in Batam Free Port and Free Trade Zone in Riau Islands is not affected by negative sentiment of 2014 presidential election. According to Head of Batam Regional Owned Enterprises, Mustofa Widjaya, investors believe that the two presidential candidates are good for business investment in Batam.
"Investment in Batam continues. Nothing is affected by presidential election. I have received Japanese investors," Widjaya said in Batam recently.
Batam investors do not need to wait and see the presidential result. All incentives and investment flexibility in the area already have clear and legal cooperation. They also understood the democratic process in Indonesia and not worry about the worst possibilities in this election.
"They know that we have several successful elections. There are no violance during this," he said.
Foreign investors also did not afraid to invest in Indonesia because they are confident with the security system. Batam mayor, Ahmad Dahlan hopes that the election run smoothly and safely until the counting process and presidential inaguration are completed. He asked all supporters of both presidential candidates, Prabowo Subianto and Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo to respect each other.
