REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ministry of Justice and Human Rights (Menkumham) on Friday had proposed 64 candidates for the post of chief of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), a member of the selection committee reported on Friday.

"For the initial selection process, four criteria have been taken into consideration--relevance of education, relevance of work, and work and administrative requirements. The first factor is education. The candidates must hold a degree in law or economics, which is principally relevant to the work of the commission," Farouk Muhammad said.

Further, work experience should be in the fields of law, banking, finance, or economics.

"Only lecturers in law or economics can apply. At least 15 years of work experience in the relevant fields is required," added Farouk.

Farouk remarked that he was happy with the high application turnout for the post.

"We are delighted with such response. We were not expecting so many candidates. We expect the profiles of the candidates will be compiled into a system, so that they can be taken into account later," suggested Farouk.

The 64 candidates who have passed the administration process must write a paper about themselves and take up a competency test on September 11, 2014, Farouk noted.

"The purpose of writing a paper is to reveal about themselves. We will know more about the candidates, especially their character, aim, and objective," said Farouk.

Farouk will also ask for a community feedback on the candidates who have passed the initial selection procedure. Among 64 candidates who have passed the initial selection and administration process, one of the candidates is the Vice Chairman of the Commission Busyro Muqoddas.
