REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Investment in local districts and cities in Indonesia still have permit problems. Central government under Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Jusuf Kalla is asked to provide policy support and regulation to improve the investment climate in the region.
Economic observer of University of Indonesia, Muslim Anwar said that government should support the policy, such as the simplification of investment permit, the improvement of integrated one-stop services, as well as the provision of incentives to encourage investment.
"More importantly, we must continue to strengthen efforts to prevent corruption in both central and local levels," Anwar said on Tuesday.
Jokowi and Kalla ever said that Indonesian economic development should be started from the periphery areas, so that all development could be felt by Indonesian people. Anwar added that central government needed to develop a national investment strategy to encourage integrated manufacturing sector in regions. Central government must be able to encourage local governments to support through improved bureaucracy and licensing, including the synchronization of rules and implementation of e-Government in dealing with the implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
Related to the acceleration of infrastructure development, including the national logistics system, the new government needs to adopt, strengthen, and accelerate the completion and implementation of MP3EI targets through spatial planning policies at central level.
The policy must be supported by local government. The strengthening of infrastructure needs to be focused on the provision of basic infrastructure services, such as electrification, access to drinking water, sanitation, livable housing and streets.
