REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- Government plans to build 50,000 houses near Indonesian borders in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), Kalimantan and Natuna. The housing is one of priorities agenda called Nawa Cita 2015, of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said the housing was intended for Indonesia workers who worked abroad. "It is more comfortable so that they can bring their families to live near border," Hadimuljono said on Thursday, November 27.

Government allocates 1 trillion IDR to build the houses next year. The minister also said that government planned to build 900,000 mortgage houses, 600,000 rented houses, 450,000 self-help mortgage houses, and 200,000 self-help houses.

The plan has been issued since 2012 by previous government. However, the program did not run effectively.
