REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) confirmed that he and Indonesian government would not apologize to families of former members of Indonesian Communist Party (PKI).
"Until now, there is no plan to apologize. If you want to ask about that, please ask those who spread the rumors, don't ask me," said Jokowi, after chairing Kesaktian Pancasila Day Commemoration 2015, at Lubang Buaya, Jakarta, Thursday (1/10).
Related to PKI revolt on 30th September 1965, President Jokowi hoped that Indonesian people to remain vigilant so that similar incident will not happen again.
"I'm sure the G30S/PKI will not happen again in our beloved country," he added.
Earlier, Cabinet Secretary, Pramono Agung, said President Jokowi never discussed and planned to apologize to families of former members of PKI.
"The issue of apology was never discussed in the meetings in the cabinet," said Pramono, Wednesday (30/9).
