REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAJALENGKA -- Kertajati Airport in Majalengka, West Java, was ready for operation in early 2018. The Airport was able to accommodate about 5.6 million passengers per year from the eastern region of West Java and western region of Central Java.
Transport Minister Ignatius Jonan said the current problems of land acquisition has been completed so that it can focus on construction. The construction of Kertajati Airport would begin from the runway, apron, taxi way and navigation.
"The airport has the widest runway, the which is 60 meters with a length of 2,500 meters," he said, Tuesday (14/1).
The airport would be able to accommodate wide-bodied aircraft, such as Airbus 380. Longest airport runway is in at Hang Nadim Airport, Batam, which is 4,000 meters, but the most wide-runway is Kertajati Aairport.
Jonan suggested that the provincial government could build commercial sector because the airport would also be used as part of aetropolis region.
