REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A poster that appeared in social media, Thursday (21/1) stirs many people. In that poster, some students at University of Indonesia (UI) that joined a group SGRC offered counseling services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender or known as LGBT.
Oblique accusations suddenly became the strongest response. UI strictly prohibits SGRC to include the university logo in each group activities
However, SGRC responded and said would do further communication with UI public relations. They also said that establishment of this campaign group was not separated from a number of UI elements, such as the lecturers.
"Founders and members of SGRC UI are students, alumnus, and lecturers at UI. Our activities are also based at UI area, so this is the point that explains why we use UI as the name of our community," SGRC said on the statement in its official website, Thursday (21/1).
Furthermore, SGRC also emphasized that their mission. They would like to provide a place and information center for UI academics who want to know about issues related to gender, sexuality, and reproductive health.
