REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Attorney General's Office has no objection to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioning chief of the Jakarta high public prosecutor's office Sudung Situmorang over a bribery allegation.

"The KPK summoned Sudung today. That is the obligation which must be met according to the law. We have no problem with it. Let him hear all the facts," Junior Attorney General for Supervision Widyo Pramono said here Thursday.

Both Sudung and his assistant for special crimes Tomo Sitepu have received a summons from the KPK to undergo questioning as witnesses in the alleged bribery case.

The Attorney General's Office will always be open when the KPK needs to question public prosecutors allegedly implicated in the case, he said. "Go ahead with the existing activity," he said.

Both, Sudung and Tomo, have also been subjected to an overseas travel ban.

During the raid connected to the bribery allegation, the KPK also seized US$148,835 as evidence.

The anti-graft body has so far named Sudi, Dandung and Marudut as suspects. They are accused of bribing the public prosecutors.

If found guilty, they can be sentenced to up to five years and fined up to Rp250 million.
