REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Deputy of Rais Aam (Supreme Leader) of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Miftachul Akhyar became the first expert witness presented by the public prosecutors during the eleventh trial of blasphemy case with Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) as defendant. He was presented as an expert on religion.
In front of the judges, Miftachul deplored Ahok had mentioned surah Al Maidah verse 51 in his speech during an official to Pramuka Island on September 27, 2016. He said there was an indication to misguide the Muslim in the speech of the former regent of East Belitung. The indication found in the words "using surah Al Maidah verse 51" uttered by Ahok. Miftachul said the verse was commonly conveyed by ulemas. "There was an indication to misguide the people," he said.
Miftachul said Ahok tried to called the people who believed in the verse to disbelieve it. Further, Miftachul also said Ahok called the faithful people to be unfaithful.
Evenmore, he said, Ahok was not a Muslim, but he dare to interpret the content of Alquran. In fact, the Muslims are not allowed to interpret it randomly. "Only the expert could interpret it and their interpretations could be debated," he said.
Miftachul added that the word 'being lied by using surah al-Maidah verse 51' was an evidence that Ahok had committed a blasphemy. "He consider as if the Quran has deceived the people.
Miftachul said, it was a duty of the ulemas to correct any misguided people, as Ahok. "So there was a duty of the ulemas, when he knew such a misguidance, he might give an explanation. So we were being an expert to give explanation because there was a misguidance," he said.
