REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives, Fadli Zon, said it is not feasible to use Hajj funds for infrastructure development. The administration has been facing difficulty to reduce budget deficit, even planning to add debt.
"Using Hajj funds in this situation, I think it's very risky," Fadli said, in Nusantara III Building, Senayan Parliament Complex, Thursday.
The Vice Chairman of Gerindra Party said the government should make changes to the contract with the prospective pilgrims who own the funds. From the beginning, the pilgrims did not have contract to invest their funds for infrastructure.

Fadli asked the administration not to equate themselves with Malaysian Government regarding the management of pilgrim funds. Malaysia, he added, has provided requirements of the contract of pilgrimage to the pilgrims who will deposit their funds.
"Malaysia has informed that the funds will be invested, and they got benefits from the investments," he explained.
Fadli added, the government has underestimated the contract for Hajj funds. People spent tens of years to save money for pilgrimage, but the government want to use the money without the approval from the owner.
