REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) Zainut Tauhid Saadi highly regretted and strongly rejected the Muslim Cyber Army (MCA) group for abusing the name Muslim for the syndicate. He explained the name is against their activities which are far from Islamic teachings.

By abusing the name Muslim, MCA has tarnished and marred the holiness and nobleness of Islamic teachings, he said.

"The suspects' act is not only against the positive law but is not justified by the sharia law as well. Therefore, their act is forbidden by the Islamic law because it can cause unrest, fear, friction, and hostility which may ruin the life of the public and state," he said here on Thursday.

MUI asks the law enforcement agency to thoroughly investigate the MCA's networks and arrest its mastermind to see the motive behind their act, he said.

According to the police, MCA syndicate is a group of people allegedly spreading hatred, humiliation and slander, pitting one against another and discrediting state leaders and officials.

The MCA content which has gone viral includes the resurgence of the now defunct Indonesian Communist Party (PKI), the manhandling of ulemas, and the humiliation of religious and social figures as well as state leaders. Six perpetrators have been arrested in four different cities.
