REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Hidayat Nur Wahid, said that his side has not yet received the letter of replacement of MPR Deputy Chairman, Mahyudin, of the Golkar Party. Mahyudin was said to be replaced with the daughter of the late former president Soeharto, Siti Hediati Hariyadi (Titiek) by Golkar party.
"We have not yet received the letter of replacement of Pak (Mr) Mahyudin," Wahid stated in Temanggung, Central Java, on Tuesday.
He noted that after the letter has been received, his side will first look at the reason for the replacement of the MPR deputy chairman.
"We will see what the reason is, whether it is in accordance with MPR internal rules and the legislative institutions (MD3) provisions. The change in leadership of the MPR is different from the replacement of the House of Representatives (DPR) leaders," Wahid remarked.
The MPR leadership can be replaced by reasons of death, resignation, or incapacitation.
"We do not yet know the reason for the Golkar Party for making a replacement, but until now, we have not received a letter whether Golkar will make the replacement or not. We will wait until Wednesday. We will hold a meeting with the fraction leader," he explained.
The agenda of discussion will include the MD3 changes, especially with regard to the MPR leadership edition and the change in the MPR leaders of the Golkar Party representation.
Earlier, Golkar Party Coordinator, Munzir, told reporters that the Golkar Party had sent a letter stating the replacement of Mahmudin, as the MPR deputy, with Titiek Suharto.
According to Munzir, the change is a very common thing and is only meant for refreshment.
