REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian government will formulate a presidential regulation to lay a legal basis for the realization of the endowment fund for education. Hopefully, it will be issued soon, Vice Finance Minister Mardiasmo stated, after a ministerial level meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture here, on Monday.
The presidential regulation concerning the establishment of the Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) must be more comprehensive, he noted.
He added that the regulation will govern LPDP more comprehensively and will apply it to the entire nation in accordance with President Joko Widodo's directives.
The meeting agreed that the presidential regulation must govern the endowment fund comprehensively and involve all ministries and non-ministerial government institutions.
"The Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education also offers scholarships. We will only adjust the scholarships with the president's directives to develop human resources through scholarships and achievement, including its affirmation," he remarked.
Mardiasmo revealed that the formulation of the presidential regulation will involve all related stakeholders, particularly ministries and non-ministerial government institutions.
The ministries and non-ministerial government institutions include the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, the Ministry of Education and Culture, the National Development Planning Agency, and the Ministry of State Apparatuses and Bureaucratic Reforms," he added.
He explained that the regulation will make LPDP more optimal and beneficial for the entire Indonesian nation.
