REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted red-handed operation in South Lampung regency. A total of 12 people were arrested, including South Lampung Regent Zainudin Hasan.
“KPK team has been assigned in South Lampung in recent days,” said KPK chairman Agus Rahardjo on Friday (July 27).
Meanwhile, according to KPK's spokesman Febri Diansyah 12 individuals have been arrested on Friday morning. "Some of them will be transferred to the KPK office in Jakarta," he stated.
Among the individuals arrested in the operation are South Lampung Regent Zainudin Hasan, legislators, and businessmen. "The team will take into account its preliminary questioning at the local police headquarters last night," he noted.
During the operation, the commission has confiscated Rp700 million in cash in Rp50 thousand and Rp100 thousand denomination, allegedly linked to an infrastructure project.
Hasan is the younger brother of the People's Consultative Council's Chairman Zulkifli Hasan, who is also chairman of the National Mandate Party.
The KPK will have 24 hours to declare the legal status of the arrested persons.
