REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) will build as many as 1,200 units of temporary shelter (Huntara), as transit places until permanent housing and relocation of settlements are completed. Huntara will be built in Palu, Sigi, and Donggala in Central Sulawesi.
"Resettlement relocation requires careful planning and preparation. Therefore, government will build temporary residences, which are targeted to be completed in two months. The sooner the places are completed, the faster the community can move out from camps,” said Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono in a written statement on Tuesday (Oct 16).
Three locations that can be resettlement of residents, namely Duyu, Tondo and Pombewe. A total of 1,200 units Huntara can accommodate 14,400 families. Huntara is built with a knockdown model measuring 12 x 26.4 square meters, divided into 12 rooms and each room will be occupied by one family.

While awaiting the development of refugee data, the government would built 1,200 units of Huntara in the first stage. According to Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing Central Sulawesi Management Task Force chairperson Arie Setiadi Murwanto, this week there would be one shelter mockup unit set as an example.
“Huntara will be built by contractors and Insya Allah (God willing) it can be occupied gradually in the following week with two months target of completion," Basuki explained.
Huntara will be built with a cluster system in five zones by considering the factors of land availability and site security from the impact of the earthquake. Each cluster consisting of 10 shelters (120 booths) and there will be one kindergarten and elementary school, trash bin, an open space for community activities and a motorcycle parking lot.
Huntara to be earthquake resistant and accommodates hot weather in Palu City. Construction will use mild steel with walls made from glassfiber reinforced cement (GRC). Each huntara unit will be equipped with four toilets, four bathrooms, a septic tank, a washing area, and a shared kitchen and electricity with 450 watts of power per room.
