REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Habib Bahar bin Smith vowed that he would not apologize for his lecture allegedly contained an insult to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). He also said that he prefered to be detained in prison, rather than apologize over his speech.

“I will never apologize, I prefer to be rotten in prison, Allahu Akbar,” Habib Bahar said in Monas, Central Jakarta, on Sunday.

Habib Bahar who attended the 212 Alumni Reunion Rally said he was not afraid of the case. He refused to convey an apology over his statement.

"For Allah's sake, I will never apologize," he reiterated.

According to Habib Bahar, he has his own reason in calling the president as a sissy. He said that Jokowi ran away when thousands of ulemas and habaib gathered in front of state palace on November 4, 2016  to call for the prosecution of then-Jakarta governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok for blasphemy.

Habib Bahar also condemned the use of tear gas to subdue protesters, especially ulemas and habaib. He said Jokowi as a traitor of the country and the people as the president did not respond to the ulemas request to meet during 411 rally on November 4, 2016.

"Maybe there is a lot of questions, why do I say President Jokowi is sissy? First because of the 411 rally, thousands of ulama and habaib gathered in the palace, but then they were strafed with tear gas. The president fled," Bahar said.

The 411 rally was known as the Second Action to Defend Islam to call for the prosecution of then-Jakarta governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok for blasphemy. Jokowi left the Palace and continued his agenda to review airport train railways project.

“If you meet Jokowi, you can open his pants, maybe he has menstruation because he seems like a sissy,” Habib Bahar said.

As a respond of his lecture, Habib Bahar was reported to National Police by Jokowi Mania Secretary General. In addition, the report also came from Cyber Indonesia Muannas Aladid to Jakarta Police.

“This is not a good criticism or lecture, if he wants to protest, please but don’t harass like that. It’s inappropriate for a person who called as habib or ulema,” said Muannas.
