One year is not enough to solve the acute problem of flooding issue in Jakarta. It concerned on a lot of things, from spatial to the drainage system. It needs a comprehensive settlement. The authority is also not only in Jakarta's hand but in the central government. The things that are in the hands of the centre, for instance, are about the management of the Ciliwung River and culverts at the national road. In fact there was a polemic between Jakarta and the Ministry of Public Works about the sinkhole culvert in Jalan TB Simatupang.

Jakarta floods this year was a test for Jokowi. Is he going to be a great visionary leader who loved by his people? Or is he just a leader who loved by his people without a great vision. But his political opponents should not expect that this year's floods will make Jokowi erased from the storage racks of public heart. Jakarta floods had little effect. He remained a man in action through his blusukan. It's been more than enough to win the hearts of the people. This is because other leaders only those elitist who just tinkering stats from behind the desk and those who tinkers money to boost stats.

It's nothing wrong for Jokowi to call his blusukan as "street democracy". He checked his policies directly in the field and at the same time pick up the aspirations of its people. He changed the lay understanding of democracy as a street demonstration that massive and relentless. Street Democracy is blusukan. Thus, the Jakarta's flood does not change anything for the competition on presidential contestation in 2014.

The secretly boycott by central officials and competitors over Jakarta floods attention precisely was Jokowi victory. We are certainly sad to see this reality. Jakarta will remain affected by flooding for years to come. All stuck in a routine and popularity. There was no grand vision, no great leader.
