Chairman of PBNU Appreciates Establishment of Hajj and Umrah Agency in Prabowo's Government

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), KH Ahmad Fahrur Rozi, known as Gus Fahrur, welcomed the appointment of Prof. KH Nasaruddin Umar as Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) RI. He is a competent and experienced scholar in the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Ministry of Religious Affairs), hopefully he can make the Ministry better and innovative in the future.

“We know that Gus Yaqut's leadership is very good and successful in making many innovations and improving services in the Ministry of Religious Affairs, as well as such complicated Hajj services become much better, hopefully this achievement can continue to be maintained and improved by him (KH Nasaruddin Umar),” Gus Fahrur told Republika on Monday (21/10/2024).

Gus Fahrur said that the plan to establish a Hajj and Umrah body is also positive for Indonesian pilgrims. Because there is more focus on improving the quality of services and means of worship of Indonesian people whose life is constantly improving.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs is more focused on efforts to improve religious services that are more equitable, easy, and equitable for all Indonesians. Especially in improving the quality of piety of religious people, strengthening religious moderation and maintaining the harmony of religious people in Indonesia.

“The Ministry of Religious Affairs is also very important in improving access to religious education for all segments of Indonesian society,” said Gus Fahrur.

The Chairman of the General Administration of Al-Washliyah, KH Masyhuril Khamis congratulated the Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Prof. KH Nasaruddin Umar and Deputy Minister of Religion (Wamenag) Muhammad Shafi'i. May Allah be able to soothe and calm the people more.

“The future conditions of the Ministry of Religious Affairs are strategic especially to reorganize the spiritual values of the nation's children,” Kiai Masyhuril told Republika on Monday (21/10/2024).

Kiai Masyhuril suggested to the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Ministry of Religious Affairs) to fight for religious education in order to add more hours of study. There should be no dichotomy between general education and religious education.

“Therefore, collaboration with the Ministry of Education is needed to preserve the moral values of the nation, to keep our children in awe of the Most Holy God,” said the Chairman of the Center for the Debate and Improvement of Ethical Peoples (PDPAB) of the Indonesian Ulama Assembly (MUI).

Kiai Masyhuril also requested that the menag in ayomi ormas, especially Islamic ormas, should not be limited to just a few ormas. All ormas have a role for Indonesia especially ormas that were born before Indonesian independence. Therefore, it is fair because the Islamic ormas are loyal partners of the government, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Previously, president-elect Prabowo Subianto had appointed 53 ministerial names and heads of a ministerial equivalent body within the Red and White Cabinet. One of those appointed as minister was Prof. KH Nasaruddin Umar.

The Istiqlal Mosque Imam was appointed Minister of Religious Affairs replacing Gus Yaqut or Yaqut Cholil Qoumas who were not extended their terms.

“I was really surprised. I didn't expect it and I was shocked, I never imagined it,” Kiai Nasaruddin told reporters after leaving Prabowo's home in Jakarta some time ago.

Kiai Nasaruddin admitted that there had never been any talks about ministerial positions with Prabowo or people around Gerindra Party circles before. However, on Monday around 18:00pm, he received an invitation from Prabowo's aide to come to Kartanegara.
