“This socialization is done so that health care facilities (fasyankes) are alert and ready to carry out efforts to prevent Monkeypox disease, whose cases have been reported in Indonesia at the moment,” said Secretary Dinkes of Depok City, Yuliandi, quoted from the Depok Government information website, Friday (27/10/2023).

According to Yuliandi, monkey pox is a zoonotic emerging infectious disease caused by the Monkeypox virus from a member of the genus Orthopoxvirus in the family Poxiridae. Transmission of this disease to humans occurs through direct contact with infected people or animals. In addition, it can also be through objects contaminated by the virus.

He explained monkey pox disease can be mild with symptoms lasting about two to four weeks. But the virus can also develop into a severe disease to the point of causing death.

“It is necessary to be vigilant against this disease. Based on World Health Organization (WHO) case data as of September 26, 2023, Mpox cases occur in groups of men who have sexual intercourse with men, bisexual men, and HIV positive status,” he said.
