REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- DKI Jakarta on Thursday morning did not make the top ten as the city with the worst air quality in the world, although the air quality of the metropolis is still in the unhealthy category.

Based on data from the air quality monitoring website IQAir at 7:30pm, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Jakarta is ranked 12th with a number of 122 or falls into the unhealthy category with PM2.5 air pollution and a concentration value of 44 micrograms per cubic meter.

That figure explains the level of air quality that is unhealthy for sensitive groups because it can harm humans or sensitive animal groups or can cause damage to plants or aesthetic value.

While the category is good, namely the level of air quality that has no effect on human or animal health and has no effect on plants, buildings or aesthetic values with a PM2.5 range of 0-50.

Then, the moderate category is the air quality, which has no effect on human or animal health but affects sensitive plants and aesthetic values with a PM2.5 range of 51-100.

Then, very unhealthy categories with PM2.5 ranges of 200-299 or air quality can be detrimental to health in a number of exposed segments of the population. Finally, it is dangerous (300-500) or in general its air quality can seriously harm the health of the population.

The cities with the worst air quality were Delhi (India) at 340, Lahore (Pakistan) second at 335 and Mumbai (India) at 187. Fourth place Karachi (Pakistan) at 183 and Shanghai (China) fifth at 169. Then Baghdad (Iraq) ranked sixth at 165, Dhaka (Bangladesh) seventh at 160 and Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam) eighth at 157. Next was Kolkata (India) ninth at number 153 and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) tenth at number 124 and Shenyang City (China) at number 122.
