REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA— There is a prayer that is read to drive out demons. This prayer is directly sourced from the Quran contained in the Al-Baqarah surah.

Here's a prayer to exorcise demons

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ وَلَا يَئُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ 

Allahu la ilaha illa huwal hayyul qayyum, la ta'khuzuhu sinatuw wa la na'um, lahu ma fis-samawati wa ma fil ard, man zallazi yasyfa'u 'indahu illa bi'iznih, ya'lamu ma baina aidihim wa ma khalfahum, wa la yuhituna bisyai'im min 'ilmihi illa bima sya', wasi'a kursiyyuhus-samawati wal-ard, wa la ya 'uduhu hifzuhuma, wa huwal-'aliyyul-'azim

“Allah, no one has the right to worship but He who lives eternally again and continuously takes care of (His creatures): neither drowsy nor sleepless, but all that belongs to Him in heaven and on earth: no one can intercede with Allah without His permission, Allah knows what they have not done and what they have done: and they are not able to attain the knowledge of Allah in the least but what He wills: the seat of God covers the heavens and the earth: God does not find it difficult to maintain both, and God is the Most High again great. (QS Al-Baqarah verse 255, HR Al-Bukhari no 2311)

Among the proofs that show the importance of reading the verse of the chair, which is the hadith of Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu anhu, he said, “The Messenger of Allah assigned me to keep zakat in the month of Ramadan. Then someone came to me and stole from food (zakat)...“

At the end of the hadith, the thief said, “If you are going to sleep, then read the 'Verse of the Chair' because the guard from Allah will continue with you and the devil will not come near you until dawn”. Then the Prophet said, “He has told you the truth, even though he is a liar. He is a demon. “(HR al-Bukhari 2311].
