PSSI and KNVB Collaborate, Indonesia Vs Netherlands Friendly Match Will Be Regularly Held

KNVB will help the development of players and coaches from Indonesia.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PSSI General Chairman Erick Thohir welcomes with open hands the offer of cooperation given by the Dutch Football Federation (KNVB/Koninklijke Nederlandse Voetbalbond) to accelerate the achievements of Indonesian football.

According to Erick, the consistency of the achievements of the 1988 European Cup champions and the structured coaching at different age levels of players in the Netherlands, formed the basis of the collaboration between the two federations which in fact have a long historical relationship.

“This is a continuation of the meeting last May. The PSSI and KNVB agreed to develop stronger links between their respective associations for mutual benefit, promotion development, and continued football success in each country. Indonesia will certainly have a lot to learn, and I am happy that the KNVB is ready to help and provide what we need,” Erick said in Jakarta while receiving three KNVB representatives on Wednesday (25/9/2024).

He added that during the visit of KNVB officials represented by Secretary General Gijs de Jong, Head of International Programs and World Coach Michael van der Star, and Head of Sales and New Partnerships Ruud van der Sar, also signed a memorandum of agreement to promote football in various international levels.

“One of the points of this partnership is aimed at improving the quality and experience of the Indonesian national team in all age groups both boys and girls. With the main focus on improving the quality of talented and young players, we are optimistic that many talented Indonesian players will grow through this cooperation,” continued Erick

In addition, the PSSI and KNVB will regularly meet the national teams of both countries in friendly matches. Erick also stated the new round of cooperation between PSSI and KNVB is also focused on various development projects. One of them is the education of Indonesian football coaches.
