In addition to Muhammadiyah, Bahlil continued, the religious organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) has also completed the licensing process to manage the former PKP2B mine land. NU obtained a mining business license (IUP) to manage the former PKP2B PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC).

On Friday (3/1/2025), the General Manager of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) said that it formed PT Berkah Usaha Muamalah Nusantara (BUMN) to manage as many as 25,000 to 26,000 hectares of mines in East Kalimantan.

The shares of the venture are owned by NU cooperatives managed by administrators and residents. At the moment they are working to meet various requirements to start exploration.

“Well about the potential of the rocks, of course we have to wait for the results of the exploration later, because not yet. Now the permit for the exploration alone is still being processed,” said PBNU General Chairman Yahya Cholil Staquf in Jakarta, Friday (3/1/2025).

The government has prepared six coal mine areas that have been in production or former Coal Mining Business Agreement for religious business entities. The Special Mining Business Permit Area (WIUPK), which can be managed by religious ormas business entities, is an area of coal mines that have been in production.

It can also be on the land of the first generation Coal Mining Enterprise Works Agreement. The six WIUPKs were prepared, namely the former PKP2B land of PT Arutmin Indonesia, PT Kendilo Coal Indonesia, PT Kaltim Prima Coal, PT Adaro Energy Tbk, PT Multi Harapan Utama (MAU), and PT Kideco Jaya Agung.
