REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MECCA - Indonesia will host International Islamic Media Conference on December 2-3, 2012, which will be attended by 150 participants from Muslim-majority countries.

"It is the third times that Muslim World League ask Indonesia to host the event," the Head of Law and International Cooperation Bureau at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Mubarak, said on Wednesday. Indonesia hosted the similar event in 1989 and 2011.

Besides hosting the conference, Indonesia will also manage islamicnewsmedia.org, an official website for Islamic Media Conference. The conference is expected to be opened by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Mubarak said that Indonesia, as a Muslim-majority country, must help determining the image of Islam in international media.

Deputy Rector of Universitas Islam Jakarta, Jamhari Makruf, said that it was the right time to end hegemony of Western world in a media. "Information about Islam sometimes imbalanced and corner the religion," he said.
