REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- As many as 18 countries will participate in the international conference on physics and mechanics of new materials and their applications (Phenma), to be held in Surabaya, East Java, from July 19 to 23.
The 18 countries have sent papers on their research to be discussed at the meeting, which will be held at 17 Agustus 1945 (Untag) University in Surabaya, Chairman of the event's organizing committee Muaffaq A. Jani said here Wednesday.
"New scientific journals from different countries will be delivered by researchers to the Phenma. The research papers are related to the management of energy, materials, mathematics, and so on," he said.
In total, the event's organizing committee has received 308 journals from participating countries that include Russia, Taiwan, Thailand, and Malaysia.
"Indonesia itself will be represented by several campuses, such as Untag, the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), and the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) in Surabaya," he said.
Untag will deliver 27 papers including those related to smart buildings while replying on the question of energy, Muaffaq, who is also dean of Untag's technical faculty, said. The papers were prepared in cooperation with other universities.
"Smart buildings have been growing in other countries, while they are new in Indonesia," he said.
The concept of a smart building calls for the effective use of energy in every building, he said.
The other papers from Untag are related to the management of energy, such as electrical power, and automatic lamps, he said.
