Obama remembering his childhood in Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, WASHINGTON -- President of the United States (US), Barack Obama said that he has a personal relationship with Indonesia. It was because he had spent his childhood life in Indonesia.

"Of course I have a personal relationship with Indonesia since my childhood was in Indonesia," said President Obama in the White House, Washington DC, Monday (26/10).

According to him, partnership with Indonesia was important for the United States because of Indonesia possessed large population. Indonesia, according to Obama, played a major role in Southeast Asia and is also a country with the world's largest Muslim population.

"I am pleased to welcome President Joko Widodo in the White House, because it is a good opportunity to build a strong relationship between two largest democracy," he added.

Indonesia also have great tolerance and moderation. Therefore, he considered that it was important to enhance cooperation with Indonesia.
