The explosion in a parking area in Lahore city at 20:00 hours local time claimed the lives of 65 and left hundreds of people injured, including women and children.

"The government and people of Indonesia express deep condolences to the people of Pakistan and its government, especially to the relatives of those who died," the press statement issued by the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry, received here on Monday, said.

The Indonesian Embassy in Islamabad said no Indonesian citizens were among those injured in the terror attack.

"When people in the world and Pakistan were celebrating the Easter Day, an act of terror occurred. Such attacks underline the importance of the international community enhancing cooperation further to fight extremism and radicalism," the statement noted.

The Indonesian Embassy continually coordinated with the security board and hospitals in Lahore City to gather information about any possible Indonesian citizens who could have been among the victims.

The government has appealed to the Indonesians in Lahore to remain calm, stay alert and avoid places that are vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
