Drone show to mark countdown to Asian Games 2018

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- As many as 300 drones will conduct shows in Jakarta on August 18 to mark the countdown to the 18th Asian Games, a year ahead of the event scheduled in Jakarta and Palembang. 

"An extraordinary show will be performed by drones from technology company Intel at Monas Square," head of Creative Economy Baord, Triawan Munaf, said at a press conference on preparations to celebrate the month of Independence Day 2017 here on Friday.

He stated that the drone event would be the second to be held in the world. The so-called Selebrasia event will also be highlighted due to the presence a number of top Asian artists, including Girls Generation from South Korea.

Raisa and Tulus will also be among musicians from the home country who will also highlight the event.

Triawan noted that the government expressed hoped that the 18th Asian Games would liven up when it happens in 2018 and hence, "activities to highlight the event will be held a year before it."

He remarked that his office, in cooperation with the state secretariat, would also invite a well-known football club from England to play futsal against a presidential and cabinet team.

The Selebrasia event will also be part of celebrating the month of Independence Day, which falls on Aug 17, and it will not only be held in Jakarta but also in Bandung, West Java, and Makassar in South Sulawesi.

To celebrate the month of Independence Day, ministries and state institutions have coordinated with the Creative Economy Board to prepare activities, including exhibition of painting collections of presidential palaces, national prayers event, and a number of commemoration events, to mark the National Technology Day, the Scouts Day, and the Constitution Day.

The presidential Working Unit for Strengthening Pancasila will also hold an event to mark the Independence Day on Aug 15, including presentation of awards to those who have made outstanding services to the country.

It will also plan an art performance on Aug 22to appreciate citizens who have made achievements to provide inspiration and set a role model for younger generations.

Minister/State Secretary Pratikno noted that all of the programs were aimed at reviving public participation and pride as a nation and boosting people's economy.

"We appeal to all community members to take active participation in the activities as part of our existence as a big nation," he concluded.
