REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIREBON - The suggestion of death sentence for corruptors was emerged in National Convention of Nahdlatul Ulama in Pesantren Kempek, Cirebon, on Sunday. People who committed corruption fall in category of shameless people of committing wrongdoings. NU is one of the biggets islamic organizations in Indonesia.
"The matter is still deliberated," Secretary General of NU, Marsudi Syuhud, said on Sunday.
The Chairman of NU's Scholar Board (ISNU), Ali Masykur Musa, supports the proposal because corruption was considered as an extra-ordinary crime. He said that the draft must be included in law.
"Corruption kills next generation and destroys our economy," he said. He said that corruption, rooted in Indonesia, had turned into various forms and must be anticipated. The result of the summit is planned to be delivered by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Monday.
